Schools in Piara Waters
Piara Waters was built for families, and the school network shows it. About 87 per cent of households here are family households (Census 2021), and education options have grown in step with the rooftops. Three government primary schools sit inside the suburb, a senior high school opened in 2023, and two private colleges are within a ten-minute drive.
Government primary schools in Piara Waters
- Aspiri Primary School (Sunray Avenue) is the suburb’s largest primary, with enrolments just over 1,000 students.
- Piara Waters Primary School (Wright Road) has served the suburb since 2012.
- Riva Primary School (Riva Entrance) is the newest of the three, built for the estates around it.
Secondary school
Piara Waters Senior High School (Southampton Drive) opened in 2023 and is building toward a full Year 7 to 12 cohort of around 1,650 students by 2028. For families, a high school inside the suburb is the single biggest change of the past few years. Before it opened, teenagers faced a daily trip to Harrisdale or further.
Nearby government options include Harrisdale Primary School, North Harrisdale Primary School and Harrisdale Senior High School, all a short drive north.
Catholic and independent colleges
- St John Bosco College (Monticello Parkway, Piara Waters) is the local Catholic college, taking students from Kindergarten through Year 12.
- Carey Baptist College runs two campuses nearby, in Harrisdale and Forrestdale.
- Providence Christian College (Southern River) and Australian Islamic College (Forrestdale) round out the independent options.
Check the intake area before you offer
Most local schools are local-intake schools, and boundaries shift as new schools open and suburbs fill in. Two streets on either side of the same road can fall into different catchments. The Department of Education’s Schools Online tool shows the current intake map for any address.
This matters twice. For your own children, obviously. And at resale: a home inside a popular intake area rents faster and sells to a wider pool of buyers. We tell every buyer we work with to confirm the intake area before making an offer, not after.
Tertiary education
Murdoch University and the South Metropolitan TAFE Murdoch campus are about 15 minutes away by car or a bus-and-train combination through Cockburn Central. Curtin University sits roughly 25 minutes north.
